LOUISE D. (BLANCHETTE) GIRARD

81, of Cranston, RI, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Frank Girard. Born in Central Falls, Louise was the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth (Sherman) Blanchette. She was a cashier for over 30 years at Stanley's Restaurant in Central Falls. Throughout those years no matter where she went, someone in the crowd would stop her and say, "Hey, aren't you the lady at Stanley's?" She knew everyone and everyone knew her. In recent years as her health declined she became a resident at the Orchard View Manor in East Providence. There too she became known to all and she knew everything about her new extended family. She will be missed by family and friends, but will never be forgotten. The family wishes to thank the staff at Orchard View and The Miriam Hospital for the care and kindness they extended to our Mom. She is survived by her children, Debra Gilchrist and her husband Stephen of Cranston, Steve Girard and his wife Lisa of North Scituate and Donna Parker and her husband Brian of Dighton, MA. Mrs. Girard was the grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 2. She was the sister of Harold Blanchette and Ruth Laverty and the late Albert and Donald Blanchette. Calling Hours will be held at North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 W Greenville Rd, North Scituate, RI, on Saturday August 10th from 4-6 P.M. Her memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary at 6:00 P.M., immediately followed by a light meal. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate Louise's life and greet the family afterwards. In lieu of flowers donations to the Orchard View Manor Activities Fund, 135 Tripps Lane, East Providence RI would be appreciated.
