LOUIS J. TROMBETTI, a resident of Cranston, RI and a native of Providence, RI, died at the age of 85 on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Trombetti was the loving husband of Mary C. (Petrarca) Trombetti. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Born in Providence, RI, Louis was the son of the late Pietro and Vincenza (D'Agostino) Trombetti. He was a WW-II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 3rd Battalion Ranger Division. He was wounded in the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy in November 1943. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star for bravery in combat. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Organization, Chapter 17. Mr. Trombetti was the President and founder of Cranston Auto Ignition, retiring in 1970. Besides his beloved wife Mary, Louis is the devoted father of Louis J. Trombetti, Jr. and his wife Joan of New York City and Ronald P. Trombetti and his wife Janet of Warwick. Mr. Trombetti also has a dear brother, Vincent "Sam" Trombetti of North Providence. He was a brother to the late Caroline Cruso, Gennaro and Domenic Trombetti. Louis also leaves behind two grandchildren, Greta Libbey Miller and Ben Libbey and a great-granddaughter, Jayne and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Church of the Sacred Heart, 820 Providence St., West Warwick at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
