LOUIS V. CATALDI

92, of Cranston passed to eternal life on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Loving husband of Evelyn (Vennettillo) Cataldi for 71 years. He was the son of the late Francesco and Rosa (Lanzi) Cataldi and brother of Ugo Cataldi, Teresa Saravo, and the late Julio, Albert, Angelo, and Nello Cataldi, Madeline Stoppello, and Marie Nastari. He was the brother-in-law of Ida Cataldi of Johnston and Dorothy Cataldi of Cranston.

He was the devoted father of Rose Giarrusso and husband Edward of Prudence Island, Marie Nikitaidis and husband Peter of New Canaan, CT, Evelyn Weller and husband Jeffrey of Exeter, and Lillian Cataldi-Simmers of Cranston. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Maria Baron, Edward Giarrusso, Louis Giarrusso, Michael Nikitaidis, Peter Nikitaidis, Carla Nikitaidis, Scott Weller, Amber Richardson, Matthew Simmers, Naomi Simmers, and the late Krista Weller Burns; ten great-grandchildren: Merinda, Luke, and Lanzi Baron, Brennon, Blake, Cammie, Cassie, and Carissa Giarrusso, Zachary and Caroline Weller and one great-great grandchild, Ava Collado-Baron.

Lou was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as a technical sergeant in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Kelly-Gazzero VFW Post. Lou served as an usher for 25 years at Saint Rocco Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Scalabrini Council.

Founder and CEO of Bell Findings Company for 54 successful years, Louis was one of the most respected tool designers in the jewelry manufacturing industry. He was a past president of the Jeweler's Shipping Association, active member of the Manufacturing Jeweler's and Silversmiths of America and the Metal Findings Manufacturing Association. An exceptional wine maker who won numerous awards for his "no sulfites" wine, Louis was a founding member of the Knights of the Wine Table, a group dedicated to the creation and appreciation of fine wines.

An avid golfer and a member of the Alpine Country Club for over 30 years, Louis also enjoyed dancing with his wife, gardening, mushrooming, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
