LOUIS V. CARBONE

89, of Providence, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. He was the husband of thirty-four years to Gloria R. (Prout) Carbone. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Pio and Angelina (Valente) Carbone. Mr. Carbone was a letter handler at the Providence Turnkey Post Office for the US Postal Service for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1986. Louis was a US Army veteran serving in the European Theatre during WW II. He was an avid gardener and a well known personality in the neighborhood. Besides his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Etta Fowler, Rose Rocchio, Connie Cabral, Catherine Giachelli, Paul and Joseph Carbone. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
