Lottie Teresa (Szymanski) Colarusso

106, formerly of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the Silver Creek Rehab and Healthcare Center in Bristol, RI  She was the beloved wife of the late Ferdinando “Freddie”  Colarusso.  Born in Central Falls, RI, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Wilk) Szymanski. Loving mother of Carol Ann Tanury and her husband Thomas of Barrington, RI and Paul Colarusso and his wife Sally of Bonita Springs, FL. Cherished grandmother of Tina Grilli and her husband Angelo and Nikki Russell and her husband John. Lottie is the great-grandmother of four; AJ, Layla, Fred and Will. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Lottie was predeceased by her siblings; Joseph Szymanski, Peter Szymanski, Stanley Kasinlewicz, Josephine King and Helen O’Brien.

Lottie was born in Central Falls, RI. She was a seamstress at the Standard Romper company of Pawtucket.  She moved to Cranston after she was married in 1945. She and her husband Freddie were founding members of the Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston, RI. They were members of the Alpine Country Club where they showcased their love of ballroom dancing. Lottie’s greatest love, second to Freddie, was cooking and baking for her family. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and walking with her friends at the Cranston Senior Center. In her later years, Lottie moved to Bristol, RI where she was a big winner playing bingo with her friends at Franklin Court Assisted Living and Silver Creek. Lottie was a bright light of happiness to everyone she met. Her strength and positivity came from her deep faith and love of Jesus Christ.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston.  Burial will be private.  VISITING HOURS will be Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island.
