76, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2019. She was the devoted wife of former Cranston Council President John E. Lanni Jr. They were married for 38 years. Lois was born in Providence on May 31, 1942, the daughter of the late Harry Vito Mercurio and Angela (Moretti) Mercurio. She was the sister of the late Robert Mercurio and Paula DiMuccio of Cranston. Besides her husband and sister, she is survived by her loving son John E. Lanni III and his wife Denise of Cranston. She was the beloved Grandmother to her three grandchildren, Angelina, Juliana, and John IV. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Edward DiMuccio of Cranston, James and Marie Lanni of Johnston, David and Josette Lanni of Michigan, Robert Lanni of Warwick, and many nieces and nephews.
She was an employee of the City of Cranston for 19 years. Lois was an active member of her community as a communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Cranston, St. Mary’s annual church raffle, St. Mary’s Feast Society’s women’s auxiliary , former Vice President of the ladies Cooney post Auxiliary, former member of the Cranston Democratic Women’s political Caucus, and a member of the Santa Maria DiPrata women’s auxiliary.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center for making her last few days peaceful and comfortable. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston, RI 02920.
