Dr. Lino Tiberi, "Leo" (to close friends and family) 90,of Columbia Station, OH, formerly of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 1st, 2011. Born in Introdacqua, Italy, son of the late Joseph C. and Adele Paolina (Guglielmi) Tiberi.
After immigrating to the United States at the age of seven, he spent his childhood on Federal Hill, in the Italian neighborhood of Providence, RI. He was the oldest of three children.
After graduating from Central High School in 1939, he attended Providence College on a football scholarship. During this time he also attended night school at Rhode Island School of Design, where he studied drawing and illustration. He graduated from Providence College in 1943, and went on to enroll in Tufts Dental School, Boston, MA, on a scholarship.
In 1946 he married Melba F. DiCenso of Providence, RI. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. Following this, he started a private dental practice in Attleboro, MA. He was a very giving man who not only provided very well for his family, but was also very generous to his extended family and friends.
In addition to his work and his family, Lino also valued community service. He was a dedicated member of the Attleboro Kwanis club with perfect attendance. Aside from the work he did in his practice, he also volunteered his time as a dentist in the Attleboro school system and volunteered his dental services, with two of his daughters, to an small community in Lima, Peru for three months. In keeping with this desire to serve the public, he set up scholarship funds at both Providence College and Tufts Dental School.
He lived most of his adult life in Attleboro, MA. Following his retirement in 1992, he moved to Vero Beach, FL. He spent the last four years of his life in Columbia Station, OH.
He adored his grandchildren, and enjoyed reading, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, and traveling.
He is survived by seven daughters and fifteen grandchildren. He is the beloved father of Paula Tiberi Anthony and her husband Nicholas Anthony of White Plain, NY; Sheila Tiberi of Napa, CA; Donna Tiberi of Port St. Lucie, FL; Mary Tiberi-Warner and her husband Dr. Keith Warner of Columbia Station, OH; Dr. Lisa Tiberi-Simone and her husband Dr. Peter Simone of Mamaroneck, NY; Jane Tiberi Saxena and her husband Sanjay Saxena of Novato, CA and Lori Tiberi of Mansfield, MA. Lino was the father of the late Paul Tiberi. He was the brother of Joseph A. Tiberi and his wife Dolores of North Providence and the late John Tiberi. The proud and loving grandfather of Nicole, James and Greg Anthony; Lindsey, Andrew and Lauren Tiberi-Warner; Fabiana,Peter and Luciana Simone; Arjun and Seth Saxena; Christopher, Matthew, Dylan and Francesica Fong,
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Wednesday morning 9-10 a.m.
