Liberal Manuel Martins

72, of North Scituate, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria D. (Amaral) Martins for 42 years. Born in San Miguel Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Jose Almeida Martins and Maria (Da Costa) Martins. Mr. Martins was the owner of V&T Enterprise for many years until retiring. Liberal loved spending time with his family, being with his farm animals especially his dog Tramp. He was an avid soccer fan, following the Benfica team, enjoyed watching wrestling and loved a good action movie. In 2002 he donated his kidney to his daughter Tiffany.

Besides his wife, Liberal is survived by his two daughters, Vanessa, and Tiffany Martins both of Scituate. He was predeceased by his son Joe Martins and his stepson Eric Silveira. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, two other daughters, a son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Liberal was the brother of Florimundo Almeida of Portugal, Maria Almeida of Canada, Fernando Martins of Canada, the late Miguel Martins and Jose Almeida.
