LEONORA (CAPORELLI) AIELLO

Leonora (Caporelli) Aiello 86, of Tophill Drive, Cranston, died peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Dante Aiello. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Giovanna "Jennie" (Marcaccio) Caporelli. Mrs. Aiello was a teacher in the Cranston School Department for twenty-five years before retiring in 1982. She began her teaching career in the Johnston School Department prior to WW II. During the war she was employed as a cartographer and map editor for the US Army Map Service in Washington DC and San Antonio, TX. Mrs. Aiello was a graduate of Hope High School and a member of the first Honors English Program, sponsored by the Ford Foundation. She was a graduate of Rhode Island College of Education, now Rhode Island College, Class of 1942. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a past member of the Rosary and Altar Sodality. She is survived by her loving daughter Toni Lee Aiello of Bayside, NY and was the mother of the late Lisa Jean Aiello. Mrs. Aiello was the sister of Esther Caporelli of North Providence and the late Nicholas, Carmine, and Ettore Caporelli. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rhode Island College Alumni Association, RI Alumni Office, 600 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI 02908.
