LEONARD V. BROPHY

85, of Sand Hill Cove Rd., Narragansett, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Guidette) Crouchley-Brophy and the late Jean F. (Brickley) Brophy. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Isabelle (Breheny) Brophy. Mr. Brophy graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1943 and was a WW-II U.S. Army veteran and served as a combat engineer in France and Germany. He was manager of Graybar Electric Co. for 12 years and later founded his own company called Len Brophy & Associates. Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Lt. Col. Mark L. Brophy, U.S.M.C. (Ret.) and his wife Arlene of Velrico, FL, Maureen B. Tholander and her husband Stephen of Narragansett, Leonard V. Brophy, Jr. of Swansea, MA, Patricia A. Raffa of North Kingstown and Stephen F. Brophy and his wife Christina of Wakefield; loving grandfather of eight; loving great-grandfather of three; and dear brother of Raymond C. Brophy and his wife Jeannette of Washington, D.C. and the late Edward J. Brophy, Jr. and Audrey Hefner. He is also survived by five stepchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (RT.1A), Narragansett on Friday at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
