LAWRENCE J. DUFFY

95, passed away on July 26, 2009 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT after a short illness. He was the husband of Mary J. (DelPadre) Duffy. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Muldoon) Duffy. He had been a Cranston resident for the past 58 years. Mr. Duffy was a supervisor for the Computer Department for the State of RI for 19 years prior to retiring in 1979. Lawrence had a passion for golf and as an avid lifelong golfer he won many championships and often won the longest drive competition. He was a 1932 graduate of St. Raphael's Academy in Pawtucket. Mr. Duffy was a WW-II Army veteran proudly serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe with the 128th AAA Gun Battalion under General George S. Patton's 3rd Army. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter: Karen Duffy Wallace and her husband William H. Wallace of Manchester, CT, Grandpa of Kathryn Wallace of Norwalk, Ct., Erin Wallace of Boston, MA and Carolyn Wallace of Manchester, CT , one sister: Charlotte R. Duffy of Providence and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Avenue Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Matthew's Church Elmwood Avenue Cranston at 11:00am. Burial, with military honors, will be held in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 5-8pm.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
