89, of Narragansett, formerly of Fall River, MA passed away peacefully at home with her family on January 9, 2025. She was the wife of the late Peter Caramos and former wife of the late Lawrence A. Hathaway, II.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Helen (Mingas) Litos.
Mrs. Caramos received a Master’s Degree from UMASS Dartmouth in Library Media Science; she worked as a library media specialist for Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River for many years before retiring. She was also an accomplished journalist with her work being featured in the Fall River Herald and the Hellenic Chronicle.
She loved the sea and enjoyed swimming and boating. She was a voracious reader, excellent cook and loved to travel.
She leaves her children, Elizabeth A. Hathaway of Wareham, MA, John M. Hathaway of Novato, CA, Victoria Hathaway of Narragansett and Lawrence A. Hathaway, III of Sterling, MA; her companion of 28 years, Raymond Phenix of Westport, MA; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Annie, Katie, Lauren, Jacqueline, Brandon, Lawrence IV and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, Joanna, Evan and Bennett. She was the sister of the late John and Anthony Litos.
She shared her joy of life with everyone she met and her smile and adventurous spirit will be remembered and cherished by all those that knew her.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
