53, of Woonsocket, died peacefully Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the loving arms of her life partner and with her brother by her side, at RI Hospital, Providence. Karen was the beloved wife of Janet Peters for 23 years.
Born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Alfred and Joan (Severs) Iannella, she was raised in Providence, graduating from Central High School. For many years she lived in Reno, Nevada, with her partner before moving to Woonsocket in 2000.
She devoted the past 20 years caring for and helping the aged, having a special gift to bring light to those with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. Her kind and compassionate heart touched all who crossed her path, and her warm smile lit up a room; she brought incredible joy, comfort, and happiness to those in her care. Karen also treasured the many years of devoted love with Janet, with whom she created a warm home filled with love and laughter and traveled to the National Parks.
She is survived by her three cherished siblings, Michael Iannella (Shag) of Johnston, Lori Ann Iannella of Cranston and Denise Maguire of Cranston. Karen also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and two godsons Alan Iannella and Dominic Correia. She especially enjoyed spending time with Dominic, watching him play basketball and being the tickle monster.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 28th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue Cranston, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906, or to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
