Judith A. Barile of Cranston, RI passed away on Monday February 20, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital at age 85. She was born in Providence, RI on May 7, 1937 to the late George H. Swallow and Alice V. Arsenault. She was the sister of the late George Swallow and James Swallow of East Douglas, MA.
She is survived by her loving husband Anthony Barile to whom she was married for 65 years. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary by renewing their marital vows at Holy Apostles Church in Cranston, RI.
She is also survived by her loving children Deborah Letourneau of Warwick, RI, Robert Barile of Gloucester, MA, and Karen Barile-Lyons of Cranston, RI.
She was the loving and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren Michael Letourneau, Nicole Letourneau, Heather Lyons and Brittany Leger and the great grandmother of Connor and Bennett Letourneau.
After graduating from Classical High School she worked for the Narragansett Electric Company until the birth of her first child. Mrs. Barile was then a stay-at-home mom devoting herself to raising three children during their formative years. As they matured she returned to work as a Teacher-aide for the Cranston School System and worked in various positions with the Department of Human Services. She took early retirement from State service to become more actively involved with her four grandchildren.
A devout Catholic she volunteered her services in St. Matthew’s School and had served as a Eucharistic Minister in her home parish, Holy Apostles.
Mrs. Barile was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing multi-course meals for the family at holidays and in particular the Seven Fish Supper on Christmas Eve, a family favorite.
She also enjoyed reading and gardening but most of all her involvement with her four beloved grandchildren was her passion. Her close relationship with them continued as they became adults which was the source of great pleasure for her.
