JOSEPHINE 'JO' M. (CHIRICO) RICCI

77, passed away following surgery on Monday, June 10, 2013. Jo was surrounded by her family at the time of her death. She was the devoted wife of her husband Bob for nearly 57 years. She was born in Providence to John and Anna (D'Agnenica) Chirico. The first of five children, she was a devoted daughter and aide to her mother. Jo excelled in school, but because of the responsibilities of assisting with siblings at home she passed over a college education and went to work as an office manager and bookkeeper. As her children were growing, she re-entered the workforce in the Payroll Division of the Providence School Department. She again excelled at her work, but most importantly shone brightly as a mother and wife. Bob, her eldest son passed away in 2008. His daughter Nina Rose Ricci attends college in Boston. Sharon, (Jo's daughter and closest friend), and her husband Dr. John Flanders and stepdaughter Victoria reside in North Kingstown. Her youngest son Steven Ricci resides in Cranston. She was the sister of Anna Perry and Anthony Chirico, both of Cranston and the late John Chirico and Marie Lemoi. Jo was truly a gifted and loving person. She enjoyed a good light hearted conversation, often talking over the phone to her friends from the far and near past. She never missed making the call or sending a nice card to a friend or neighbor. She was an uplifting person who never gave in to self-pity or anger at another person. Jo loved to use her mind; she read every section of the newspaper, except sports, did crossword puzzles, loved her I-Pad and kept a record of all her travels and events of interest. She also enjoyed shopping at the malls with her husband and her daughter and traveling to Italy, England and Florida. Jo is already greatly missed by her family who know she is finished with her suffering on earth and that she has arisen to her place in heaven. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston, followed by interment at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
