Josephine M. (Christy) Pezzulli of Cranston, RI passed away at the age of 98, at Cedar Crest Nursing Home. Born in Providence on October 26, 1923, Josephine was a child of the late Alphonse and Adeline Christy. She was the beloved wife of the late C. Tommy Pezzulli.
Josephine was a longtime resident of Cranston. Always faithful to God, Josephine was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She could think of no better way to spend a happy evening than to go out dancing with friends and her husband Tommy. She greatly enjoyed dancing, and over the years visited many dance halls such as Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, the El Morocco and the New Farm, where she would happily dance the night away. Josephine delighted in listening to the vintage music of the big bands, swing, and crooners, and she most especially loved listening to the songs of Frank Sinatra. However, her greatest joy was being around her immediate and extended family, and friends. Whenever you visited Josephine, you would frequently walk in to the wafting sounds of music, the volume of which she would quickly lower so that she could spend time with her company.
Josephine’s long life caused her to experience the passing of many loved ones. Predeceasing her were her brothers John, Alphonse Jr., Anthony “Chuck”, James and Frank Christy, and sisters Theresa Christy and Eileen DiPalma. Also passing from this life before her were her son, Ronald R. Leone, her daughter Karen M. Leone, her granddaughter Lori M. Leone and former husband Raymond Leone.
Josephine leaves behind her loving daughter, Diane M. Scivola and husband, Richard, along with her grandchildren, Justin Scivola, Marisa-Scivola-Carlone and husband Nathan, Michael Roche, and Rayna Christy as well as her cherished great grandchildren, Sabrina, Salvatore and Dante. Several cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends will also miss Josephine greatly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial will be private. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
