79, of Greenville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Benedetto “Benny” DeRosa. Born in Sant’Ambrogio, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Maria Civita (Cappello) Rubiano. Josephine worked for Sodexo for many years before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother and nonni. Family meant everything to Josephine, and she poured her heart into every meal she cooked for them. Known for her delicious chicken cutlets and perfectly crafted gnocchi, she brought joy to countless family gatherings through her culinary creations.
She is survived by her loving children, Maria Paiva and her husband Daniel of Greenville, and Benedetto “Benny” DeRosa and his wife Jessica of Scituate. Cherished nonni of Alexa Paiva, Daniel Paiva III, Gabriella DeRosa, and Liana DeRosa. Sister of John Rubiano and his wife Mary of Burrillville. Aunt of Lisa Rubiano, Gina Maher, and John Rubiano.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
