90, of Greenville, formerly of Providence, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of sixty-two years to C. Louise (Carlevale) Zompa. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Tomasso and Carmela (D'Arezzo) Zompa. Joe was a watchmaker for the former Bulova Watch Case Company of Providence for forty-two years. He was currently employed by Ross-Simons of Warwick for thirty-five years. Joe was a US Army veteran serving during WW II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Dr. Joseph M. Zompa of Pewaukee, WI, Diana M. Zompa, Ph.D of Pennington, NJ, and Paul S. Zompa of Smithfield. Joe was the cherished grandfather of D. Scott Knowlton, Joseph S. Zompa, Michael A. Zompa, Craig P. Knowlton and Nicholas V. Zompa. He was the brother of the late Thomas, Anthony and Henry Zompa, Assunta DeAngelis, Anna Spaziano, and Mildred Masello.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
