JOSEPH P. SOUZA, 83, of Old Pocasset Lane, Johnston and formally of Ponagansett Ave., Providence, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Waterview Villa in East Providence. He was the husband of the late Natalie (DiSano) Souza.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Olive (Bicho) Souza.
Mr. Souza worked for the former Providence Gas Company as a welder and inspector for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a WW-II Navy Veteran and was a member of V.F.W. Post #8 and Providence Gas Retiree's Association.
He was the devoted father of Arlene J. LoBianco and her husband Robert P., and Janice A. DiRaimo and her husband Pasco J., all of West Greenwich; companion of Ann Sisto of East Providence; loving grandfather of Cranston Police Officer Robert P. LoBianco, Jr. of West Greenwich and Dept. of Corrections Officer Ronald P. LoBianco of Coventry; loving great-grandfather of Robert P. LoBianco, III and G'Anna M. LoBianco; and dear brother of Alfred P. Souza of North Providence, William P.Souza of Providence, Ruth Medeiros, Anna Lupo and Alice DiPalma, all of East Providence, Geraldine Bettencourt of Smithfield, and the late Madeline Ruggiero, Albert P., Clarence P., Robert P. and Frank P. Souza. He is also survived by his loving grand-dogs Rocco and Jessie.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave., Providence at 10:00 a.m.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
