Joseph P. DelPonte 78, of Reservoir Avenue, Johnston, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Constance (Valvona) DelPonte. They were married for forty-eight years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Rosina (Marfeo) DelPonte. Mr. DelPonte was the President and owner of the former Calco Jewelry Manufacturing Company of Providence for sixteen years before retiring in 2001. He was also the President and owner of the former Rarecraft Jewelry Manufacturing Company of Providence for many years. Mr. DelPonte was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War era. He was a member of the Alpine Country Club and an avid golfer. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Patrice R. DelPonte of Johnston. He was the brother of Robert G. DelPonte and his wife Dianne of Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
