JOSEPH L. POMPEI

86, of Bissell Street, Providence passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Donato and Antonetta (Iannitelli) Pompei. Joseph was a professional musician, renowned for his talent with the saxophone and clarinet, performing throughout the country. He had also preformed in the movie "Meet Joe Black". Mr. Pompei was an Army Veteran of WW-II, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a 70 year member of the Musicians Union. Joseph was also an avid golfer. He is survived by one son: Joseph L. Pompei Jr. with whom he lived, four step-children: Rhonda Bonaventure of North Providence, Ronald DeFusco, Kenneth DeFusco and Regina Hampton all of Johnston. Brother of Dorothy Pompei, Anna Castallone and Norma Di Candeto all of Cranston. Grandfather of six. Former husband of Delores Pompei of Johnston. His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston at 9:30am. Interment, with military honors, will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: THURSDAY 4-8pm.
