89, of Knight St. Cranston, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cranston. He was the husband of the late Laura (Serrecchia) Poccia. A lifelong Cranston resident he was the son of the late Antonio and Concetta (Paone) Poccia. Mr. Poccia was employed by the former Imperial Knife for many years until retiring. After his retirement he worked at Caserta Pizzeria, Providence. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in WWII and a member of the Tabor Franchi VFW Post# 2396, Cranston. His pleasures were gardening and cooking for family and friends.
He is survived by one sister Marie Ricci of East Greenwich, four brothers August of East Providence, Andy and his wife Anna of Cranston, Anthony and his wife Madeline of West Warwick and Arthur and his wife Lisa of Cranston and was brother of the late Frances Messick; two sister in law's Ida Campagnone of Cranston and Evelyn Maggiacomo of Scituate he also leaves several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
