Joseph W. Migneault, 88, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024. Natalie (DiPonte), his high school sweetheart and dear wife of 67 years, was by his side, and he was surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Providence, he was the son of Joseph W., Sr and Clementine (Thomasset) Migneault.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter Marianne Migliori and husband Michael, son David and wife Maureen, daughter Paula Coro and husband Domenic, daughter Patricia Corneau and husband Charles, and son Steven. Joe also leaves grandchildren Alyssa Migneault and husband Dennis Gomes, Christina Capone and husband Matt, Jonathan Migliori and wife Jessica Wang, Stephanie Coro, Alison Migliori, Michelle Migliori, Andrew Migliori and wife Taís Mauk, Erica Erinakes and husband Alex , Domenick Coro and wife Nikki Louise, and Joseph Coro; great-grandchildren Cole, Maxton, Kash, and Sutton Rose Capone; Marina Migliori Kuresa, and Domenico Coro.
Joe graduated from La Salle Academy in 1953, and in 1957 was awarded a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Upon graduation, Joe was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Joe remained in the Corps, combining Active and Reserve duty service totaling 30 years, and retired as a Colonel. He was a member of the American Legion as was his father. While associated with the military, he graduated from the Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Joe became a Registered Professional Engineer in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida. In his professional career, he worked for Chas A. Maguire Engineers, Campanella & Cardi Construction Company, Campanella Corporation, Gilbane Building Company, and retired as the Chief Engineer for the City of Cranston.
Joe was a communicant of St Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Cranston and served on the 1990 Parish Building Committee that oversaw the design and construction of major church renovations. He was also a member in the fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Joe served as President of the Rhode Island Society of Professional Engineers and as a Vice President of the Construction Practice Division of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He served as President of the Kappa Rho Association of Phi Gamma Delta and remained active in his fraternity while a member of the Associations’ House Committee.
After his retirement Joe served as Interim Chief Engineer for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation; as the Public Member of the Rhode Island Board for Architect/Engineer Consultant Selection; as Chairman of the Cranston Schools Building Committee; as a consultant to the Jewish Seniors Agency during the architect selection process, the design, and the construction of the Tamarisk facility in Warwick; as a member of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority Consultant Selection Committee; as a consultant for Gilbane Building Company; and as a volunteer at International House of Rhode Island.
Joe was a three-time cancer survivor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass, with military honors, on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 9 Garden Court, Cranston. There will be a receiving line immediately following the mass. Burial and luncheon will be private.
