Joseph S. Macari 83, of Loxley Drive, Johnston, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing Home, Johnston. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Jacavone) Macari who died on June 18, 2008. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Zoglio) Macari. Mr. Macari was the co-owner of the former Macari Photography Studio of Cranston for thirty years before retiring in 1981. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II where he was a POW. Mr. Macari was a former usher at St. Rocco's Church for over fifty years and a Past President of the Holy Name Society. He was a Past Grand Knight and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Scalabrini Council and a former member of the Alpine Country Club. Mr. Macari was a Past President of the RI Photographers Association, a former Deputy Sheriff for the RI Sheriff's Department and a former member of the Sheriff's FOP. He is survived by one brother John Macari and his wife Anna of Cranston and Ann Marie Tanzi of Cranston and her late husband Rudy. Mr. Macari is also survived by one niece, Anne Clesas and her husband Greg, four nephews, Dr. Rudy E. Tanzi and his wife Dora, John Macari and his companion Debbie, Pat Macari and his wife Teddy and Stephen Macari and his wife Karen. He is also survived by several great- nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Entombment will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
