Joseph Longo, Jr., 88, of Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at home surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marie T. (Merolli) Longo and the late Ines R. (Pezzullo) Longo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Francesca (Santangelo) Longo, Sr.
Joseph was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and Roger Williams College and worked at Fleet Bank for 32 years retiring as a Vice President. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and had a passion for traveling and fishing and enjoyed spending time with dear family and friends.
Besides his wife Marie, he was the devoted father of Barbara A. Kane (Edwin) of West Greenwich, B.A. Verducci (Steven) of Johnston, Maria E. Rosa (Michael) of Cranston, Joseph Longo, III (Sarah) of New Orleans, LA, and the late Brenda L. Pelletier (Thomas) of Coventry; dear brother of the late Marlene Paolo; cherished grandfather of ten; and great-grandfather of three.
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 11th at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight St., Providence at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
