Joseph F. Gemma Jr. 77, of Central Avenue, Johnston and Collins St. Bristol, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved & devoted husband of Anna B. (Scattino) for over 50 years. Born in Providence on October 1, 1931, a son of the late Joseph F. Sr. & Viola (Resozski) Gemma, he was a lifelong resident of Johnston. Mr. Gemma was an operator for Local 57 Operating Engineers for over 35 years. During his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his loving family and enjoyed working on his many landscaping projects. He is survived by his five children; three sons, Joseph Frank Gemma III of Johnston, Michael A. Gemma and his wife Natalie of Johnston, Paul J. Gemma of Johnston; two daughters, AnnMarie Serapiglia of Barrington, JoAnn Gemma of Johnston; a brother, Richard Gemma of Barrington, two sisters, Hilda Gemma of North Providence and Arlene Fiorio of Florida; and six grandchildren, Giovanni and Armani Serapiglia, Bianca, Mia, and Michael Gemma Jr. and Paul Gemma Jr. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rocco's Church Atwood Ave. Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8 pm.
