Joseph Edward Dyson

of Narragansett, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2020, due to complications of Covid 19.

Born in Pawtucket, RI he was the son of the late George Edward and Margaret (Mulholland) Dyson. As a young man, he enjoyed skiing, tennis, bowling, and especially surfing and spending summers in Narragansett.

He served in the US Army Reserves and received a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Rhode Island.

Joe worked in retail in sales, as a store manager, and as co-owner of Edward’s Variety Store in Warren, RI for many years. He always found time to coach his sons’ baseball teams. He spent many years getting drinks and serving drinks at McGrath’s Café in Taunton, where he participated in softball, 45 tournaments, pool league, and the fishing club. After retiring, he loved nothing better than living in Narragansett, RI, where he walked the beach and spent time with his family, always wearing one of his beloved Scally caps.

The family would like to thank the staff of South County Nursing and Rehab for making Joe feel like family for the past 9 years.

He leaves two sons, John Edward Dyson and his wife Mary Ann of Lowell, MA and Michael Edward Dyson of Taunton, MA; his grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie), Kate, Drew, and Emily Dyson; a sister, Mary (Dyson) Baker and her husband Bob of Narragansett, RI, a niece, Erin Rose Johnson and her husband Corey and their daughter Autumn Rain; and a nephew, Bobby Baker and his wife Elaine.
