78, of Cranston and Jamestown, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Dolores G. (Petrucci) DiOrio. They were married for fifty-five years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Calabro) DiOrio. Mr. DiOrio was a manager for the former New England Telephone Company retiring in 1990 after thirty years. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed his family and many friends. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Joseph A. DiOrio, Jr. and his wife Vilma "Luckie" of North Providence, Laurie J. DeCesare and her husband Roland of Richmond, Anthony D. DiOrio and his wife Karen of Cumberland, and Denise L. Dottor and her husband Corado of Cranston. Joseph was the cherished grandfather of Melinda, Kimberly, Joseph III, Ryan, Nicole, Danielle and Cory. He was the brother of Lucille Buono of Johnston and the late Frank DiOrio. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston.
