Joseph A. "Joe" Carnevale

of Johnston, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021.  Born in Pico, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late

John Carnevale and Assunta “Susie” (Grossi) Carnevale and was also the dear brother to the late Filomena (Carnevale) Pompei.  He is survived by his brother-in-law Rocco Pompei, and several aunts, cousins and close friends located both in RI and Italy.

Joe was vice president for commercial lending at the Washington Trust Company in Providence until his retirement.  Prior to the Washington Trust Company, he worked for First Bank and Trust Company.

Joe served in Germany in the U.S. Army and received the National Defense Medal for his service.

Joe enjoyed spending time with friends as a member of the Santa Maria di Prata Society and as a member of the Madonna Della Civita Society at St Mary’s Church, Cranston.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 8th at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Seating will be limited (75), social distancing and masks required.

Entombment with military honors at St. Ann Cemetery will be private.
