Joseph Charles Bourassa, a cherished soul who brought joy to everyone around, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at his beloved home in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Born on March 28, 1950, in Providence, Joseph's journey through life was filled with warmth, laughter, and a boundless love for the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
Growing up, Joseph found a nurturing environment at the Joseph H. Ladd school until its closing, after which he was welcomed into the Stony Lane Group Home in North Kingstown. Eventually, Joseph became a part of the Hall family; Fred and Betty Hall offered him a loving home in Narragansett where he thrived, creating countless memories filled with joy and warmth.
Joseph was known for his infectious great smile that could light up any room he entered. He had a unique ability to connect with others, often sharing in the joys of life with a spirit that was both uplifting and welcoming. His love for good food was matched only by his immense affection for ice cream, which he enjoyed with gusto. Dining out at local restaurants brought him sheer joy, as did driving around under the summer sun, with the windows down and the music playing—often country tunes that made his heart sing.
Joseph is lovingly remembered by his sister, Nora Phillips, who carries with her the cherished memories of their time together. He is also held in high regard by his friends and caregivers, Frederick and Betty Hall, who provided him not just a home, but a source of companionship and love throughout the years. Together, they shared laughter, stories, and the warmth of friendship that shaped Joseph’s later years.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. and Nancy (Waterman) Bourassa, whose love and guidance paved the way for the compassionate and joyful man he became. His legacy is one of love, happiness, and the enduring impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him.
As we remember Joseph Charles Bourassa, let us honor his memory with smiles, kindness, and a scoop of ice cream—the sweet things in life that he enjoyed so deeply. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
