83, of Narragansett and formerly of Cranston, passed away on Christmas Eve. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Gravell) Quirk, married for 58 years. Born in Providence, Jack was a son of the late James E. and Violet M. (LaPorte) Quirk. He was employed at Narragansett Electric as a 3rd Class splice man for 42 years, before retiring. Jack was also an Army Veteran. He enjoyed boating and fishing in Galilee Refuge with friends and family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons John Quirk, retired Lieutenant Cranston Fire Department, and Robert Quirk, Major Cranston Police Department. Jack was the cherished grandfather of Vanessa McKinnon and her husband David of York, ME, and Haley and Shaun Quirk of Narragansett. He was the dear brother of Robert V. Quirk, Eleanor Byrne, Norma Grossi, Dorothy Dunphy, Bernice Gallaher, Joan Selwyn, and the late Raymond, Marie Jennings, Carol Sova, and Marian Gormley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, Narragansett. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence 02904.
