89, passed away on Monday April 23, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Gilda (DiSandro) Valente. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Filomena (Mazzullo) Valente. John worked as a car inspector and supervisor for 40 years for the railroads in New Haven, Hartford, and Providence. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in North Providence. He was also a Technician Fourth Grade Army Veteran of WW II. He is survived by his loving children, Linda J. Valente and her companion Ted Jakubowski, Patricia A. Fabrizio and her husband Louis Jr. all of Greenville. He was the grandfather of Brenda Walsh and her husband Jonathan, Louis Fabrizio and great grandfather of Brianna and Brandon. He was the brother of Paul Valente of North Providence, Emil Valente of East Providence, Carlo Valente of East Providence, Genevieve DeSimone of Providence, and the late Peter Valente, Jennie Malone, and Mary Valente. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston at 11:30am. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITING HOURS Friday 5-8pm.
