JOHN "JACK" M. SMITH

89, of Cranston, passed away on Monday August 22, 2011 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Magdaline "Doreen" R. (Summers) Smith. John was born in Providence, the son of the late Baker and Catherine (Ryan) Smith. Mr. Smith was a vulcanizer at Davol Rubber in Cranston for 35 years until his retirement, and was also a WW II Army Air Force veteran. He was stationed in Manchester, England where he met his beloved wife Doreen. They were married 61 years. He is survived by his loving children, Brian G. Smith of CA, Katherine A. Smith and her companion John Bucci of Cranston, Kevin M. Smith of Cranston and Patricia L. Smith- Romano and her husband George of Cranston. He was also the brother of Florence Barnes of CA, Carol Cassidy of Warwick and his also leaves behind his loving pet Maggie. John was an avid golfer, loved to read and discuss politics. He loved going to Foxwoods with his best friend Sean Dempsey and enjoyed sports and was a die-hard Patriots fan. But most of all he loved spending time with family and friends and telling stories, which would always begin with" I'll never forget"... His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Matthews Church, Elmwood Ave., Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Thursday morning: 8-9 am. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
