John Anthony Silvestri

95, of Narragansett RI, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2023.

John was born and raised in Providence, RI, the son of the late Marco and Filomena (Zini) Silvestri; and eventually moved to be nearby his beloved ocean in Narragansett. He wintered in Florida.

After a proud service in the Air Force during World War II, John graduated from the University of Rhode Island as a mechanical engineer. He spent his career in aviation-related companies, including Bendix Corporation and Hamilton Standard, and retired after many years from the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency. He was always known as a dedicated worker and creative problem-solver.  John was devoted to his family and shared many life-long friendships.  He had a passion for sailing, golfing, New England sports teams, and tending to his home and garden.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Santoro) Silvestri, his son, Robert Silvestri and his sister, Connie Emma.  He is survived by his children, Judy Murrah (Lance) and Diane Jackson (Joe); his daughter-in-law Luann (Isabella) Silvestri; his sisters, Etta Silvestri and Elena (Silvestri) Leone; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John leaves his loving fiancée, Frances Langley, and her children, Shari Langley Thomas (Leon), Jim Langley (Melinda) and Diane Langley. He extends his love to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His funeral will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett.  His Mass can be viewed at  https://livestream.com/stm/stm-funeral.  Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  VISITATION Monday 9-10am.
