JOHN 'RAGS' SANTURRI, SR

79, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of sixty years to Evelyn (Walker) Santurri. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Joseph and Naomi (Manni) Santurri. John was the owner of the former Delux Concrete Form Company of Cranston for many years before his retirement. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He served with the 82nd Airborne, 3rd Armored Division and in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division. John was a life member of the Nelson Mack VFW Post. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Darleen Matteson of Cranston, John Santurri, Jr. and his wife Jean of Cranston, Steven Santurri and his wife Lucille of Johnston, and Michael Santurri and his partner Michael Gillis of Providence. He was the cherished grandfather of four, great-grandfather of ten, and the great-great-grandfather of one great-great-grandson. John was the brother of Virginia Izzo of Cranston, Viola LaSpasia of New York, and the late Jean Pellegrino, Ida Bianco, Anna Hamel, Fred, Guido, Mario, and Armando Santurri. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Interment with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Avenue #2, Norwood, MA 02060.
