JOHN N. RATHOSIS

70, of North Providence, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Charlestown. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Alexion) Rathosis. Mr. Rathosis was employed in the dietary department at the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence for twenty-nine years before retiring in 2003. He was a recipient of a Citation from the City of Providence in recognition of his instant response in alerting the staff of the Roger Williams Medical Center and thereby halting a contemplated suicide in 1980. John was a member of the Salvatore Mancini Senior Center and an avid Red Sox fan. He volunteered at the church festivals and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his cousins, Bessie Papigiotis and her husband Michael of Greenville, John H. Psilopoulos and his wife Maggie of Charlestown, Demetra Hoopis and her husband Harry of Lake Forest, IL, the late Dennis H. Psilopoulos and his wife Diana of Plymouth, MA, the late Angela Stappas and her husband Paul of Branchburg, NJ, John Alexyon of Riverside, Margaret Daniels of North Providence and Carol Ceprano and her husband Robert of Scituate. John was the godfather of Det. Kevin T. Kidd, Charlestown Police Dept., of Narragansett. He was the brother of Christy N. Rathosis of Haverhill, MA He was known as "Uncle John" to many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Cranston. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.VISITING HOURS Sunday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Fund, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
