88, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 11, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife and son at home. He was the beloved husband of sixty-two years to Thilde B. (Leitner) Pecchia. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Raphaele and Angelina (Soscia) Pecchia. John was an electrician, employed at the former US Naval Air Station, Quonset Point, North Kingstown for many years until its closing. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. It was during his active tour in Germany that he met his wonderful wife. John was a talented singer, and a wonderful artist. He was a graduate of Cranston High School. He loved spending time and playing with his grandchildren, and venturing about his neighborhood visiting with those around him.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving son, Robert Pecchia and his wife Lorraine, and his cherished grandsons Brian and John, all of Saco, Maine. He was the brother of Alphonse, Domenic, Paul and Anthony Pecchia and Mary Stad, and the late Ralph and Sergio Pecchia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mark, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Burial will be private.
