John Olivo 84, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday July 10, 2009. Born in Providence, on September 15, 1924, he was the son of the late Nunzio and Grazie (Furbretta) Olivo. He is survived by his loving wife, Filomena "Mena" (Nardone) Olivo. Besides his wife Mena , he is survived by his daughter Frances, and her husband Brig Gen James D'Agostino, USAF, Ret. of West Greenwich, a grandson Christopher and his wife Crystal D'Agostino of Cranston, and a granddaughter 1LT Alisa D'Agostino, US Army, of West Greenwich. He was also the brother of the late Connie Palombo, Grace Catalfano, and Josephine, Frank, Pat and Anthony Olivo. A proud member of the "Greatest Generation", John served in the 26th Infantry Division in World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the coveted Combat Infantryman's Badge. John was a life member of the Combat Infantrymen's Association. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St. Cranston.
