John J. Nero, Sr. 80, of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Cranston, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores (Fandetti) Nero. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Henrietta (Pedorella) Nero. Mr. Nero was a Food Salesman for many years ending his career as a Real Estate Broker. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WW II aboard the USS Quincy and was present for the formal surrender of the Japanese in Tokyo Bay. Mr. Nero attended the University of Rhode Island. He was an amateur boxer in his youth in the Providence area and then in the US Navy, played semi-professional football for the town of North Providence and was also an avid golfer. He is survived by his six children, Robert Nero and his wife Lenora of Scituate, Paula Page and her husband Chris of London, England, Susan Nero of Boca Raton, FL, John J. Nero, Jr. and his wife Marlo, and Lisa Nero, both of Boynton Beach, FL and James Nero of Nashville, TN. Mr. Nero was the grandfather of Alicia, Kara, Tyson, Mikayla, Isabella, Francesca, Georgina, Ronald and Tammi. He was the brother of Peter Nero and his wife Audrey of Dennis, MA, Arlene Tomassi and her husband Dante and Clare Iarocci and her husband Anthony both of North Providence and William T. Nero of Fort Myers, FL and Westerly, RI. Mr. Nero was the brother of the late Anthony and Joseph Nero, Jr. and Mary Oberg. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston Street, Cranston.
