84, of Cranston, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Angelina (Santoro) Mendonsa. Born in Providence he was a son of the late John and Elvira (Silva) Mendonsa, Sr. Mr. Mendonsa was a supervisor for the former Clifford Metal Company for thirty-five years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Cranston Senior Center. John was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He is survived by his loving children, Judy A. Mendonsa and Joseph A. Mendonsa and his wife Vivian all of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Shelby and Noelle Mendonsa both of Cranston. John was the brother of Rosalina Votolato of Greenville and the late, Alfred, Edward and Dorothy Mendonsa. He was the companion of nine years to Ruth Fay of Providence. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
