JOHN B. MATTIA, 84, Metcalf Courts, Veazie St., Providence, passed away Wednesday, August 06, 2008 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Filomena (Catuto) Mattia.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Michael and Ernestina (DiMambro) Mattia.
Mr. Mattia was a supervisor at Leesona Ltd. in Warwick for many years before retiring. He was a U.S. Navy WW-II veteran and was a member of VFW #111 in North Providence.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Deborah Case and her husband Richard of Cranston and Helen Pagnozzi and her husband Alfonse of Venice, FL and Smithfield; loving grandfather of three; loving great-grandfather of one grandson; and dear brother of Guido Mattia of Charlestown and the late Joseph Mattia and Emma Lombari.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Brayton Ave., Providence.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
