JOHN N. LANCIA, SR

87, of Cranston, passed away on Monday February 21, 2011 surrounded by his loving family, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice In-Patient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Antonetta (Ricciardi) Lancia. John was born in Providence, a son of the late Bernardino Lancia, Sr. and Maria (Gelfuso) Lancia. Mr. Lancia served with the 44th Army Division in France during WWII until wounded in action during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart for his service. After his service, Mr. Lancia was the owner of the former Joel Cleansers, Cranston. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, John N. Lancia, Jr. and his wife Deborah of West Warwick, David Lancia and his wife Debra and Maryann Lancia both of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Amy, David, Julie, Tara and Marc and great grandfather of Sophia. He was also the brother of Mary Colacone of CA, Thomas Lancia of Cranston, Anthony Lancia of NH, Bernardino Lancia, Jr. of North Providence and the late Joseph, Frank , Mario, Alfred, Rocco Lancia, Mary Angela Nevola and Oliva Caranci. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday morning 9-10 am.
