78, of Attleboro, MA passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Sean was born in the Town of Glin on the banks of the Shannon River in County Limerick, Ireland and moved to London, England when he was a teenager. In London, he met and married his wife of 56 years, Kathleen McKeone, and they came to America in 1958.
When the Holleys first arrived in America, Sean worked a number of jobs, including making garden hoses at the old Apex, washing dishes at the Biltmore Hotel and landscaping with his brother-in-law, Patrick Madden. He went on to be an owner of the Lenox Grille in South Providence and the Fireside Inn in Warwick before opening McShawn's Pub in 1979 on Cranston Street in Cranston. Sean was a big fan of the Red Sox and made an annual trip with his friends to opening day for over 30 years. He had a love for Irish music, but his most beloved pastime was gardening. His plants in gardens from Attleboro throughout Rhode Island will be living reminders of his caring touch. He leaves behind his wife, Kathleen, of Attleboro, his sons, Steven Holley of Attleboro; Kevin Holley and wife Kay of North Attleboro; grandchildren, Shannon, Erin, Shaun and Steven. He was father of the late John Patrick Holley and dear brother of James "Seamus" Holley of Warwick, Mary Conni of Florida, Patrick Holley of Ireland, Thomas Holley of London and the late Lily Madden and the late Eileen Gordon. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. The funeral mass and burial will be private.
