86, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at RI Hospital with his devoted family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Mann) Higham. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Earl J. Higham, Sr., and Mary E. (McNamee) Higham.
Mr. Higham was a custodian for the Cranston School Department for several years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving honorably in the Korean War.
John enjoyed bowling and was on a league for many years. John was an avid New York Yankees fan who enjoyed country music and pumpkin pie. John simply adored his wife, the two were inseparable, doing everything together from running errands, going out to dinner, and caring for their beloved pets, Baby J and Otis.
Besides his wife, Mary, John is survived by his loving children, Melissa Polanco and her husband Alejandro of Warwick, Melissa Davis and her husband Richard Verry of Cranston, Elizabeth Davis and her husband Eliseo Harris of Johnston, and his stepson Daniel Davis and his wife Fatima DosSantos of North Providence.
John was the loving grandfather of Mary, Joshua, Danielle, Daniel, Sr., Andrea, Nikki, and Ariel.
He was the loving great-grandfather of Jarmany, Rommel, Kaylanny, Amir, Daniel, Jr., and Jacoby.
John was the brother of Mary Parkhouse of Prattville, AL and the late Marie O’Neill, Helen Houle, Esther Wood, Evelyn DiBenedetto, Dorothy Riley, Earl Higham Jr., and Edward Higham Sr. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Aug 24th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. His Funeral Home Service will take place on Wednesday, Aug 25th, at 11:00 a.m. Burial is kindly omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish® America, 1702 East Highland Ave., Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
