JOHN W. CASTILLO

80, of Baldwin Rd., Warwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Claire B. (D'Uva) Castillo. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Elentario and Josephine (Gonska) Castillo.

Mr. Castillo was an auto mechanic and worked for Mitchel Ford, Warwick Ford and Paul Bailey's Ford before retiring. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving with the 169th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion 43rd Infantry Division. He was an avid Providence College Men's Basketball fan and enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of John A. Castillo of Cranston and Anthony W. Castillo and his wife Susan of North Kingstown; loving grandfather of Grace, Caroline and Elijah Castillo; and dear brother of Mercedes "Marie" Croker of Wareham, MA.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Christ The King Church, 120 Legris Ave., West Warwick at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 5-9 p.m.
