John E. Bezak

88, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 2, 2020. John was the beloved husband of the late Joan A. (Leyden) Bezak. He was the son of the late Matthew J. and Emily (Balbaton) Bezak.

John was born in Pawtucket, RI. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after earning the rank of Sergeant. He then married the love of his life, Joan and they spent 62 amazing years together, living in Cumberland for over 30 years, then settling in Narragansett. They had also spent 20 winters traveling to their “home away from home” in Naples, FL where they made many fond memories. John worked as a teacher at Pawtucket West High School (now Shea High School) where he taught business classes for many years before retiring.

John is survived by his loving daughter Susan M. Taft and her husband Douglas of Woonsocket. He was predeceased by his son John M. Bezak. John was the cherished “Papa” to Holly (Bezak) Azeredo, Austin Taft, Emily Taft and Amanda Taft.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd, Narragansett. Social distancing will be observed. Seating is limited, masks are required. Inurnment will be private. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
