John S. Barattini

John S. Barattini

77, of Johnston, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence.  He was the beloved husband of Regina (Fiondella) Barattini.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rose (Martino) Barattini.

John’s first jobs were at the Johnny Shell Service Station and Narragansett Brewery.  He served in the R.I. National Guard and then worked as a truck driver for the Providence Journal for many years before retiring.  He did volunteer work for PKD support groups and fundraising for them.  He also volunteered at the VA teaching computers and at the Johnston Senior Center.  He was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Hope Council 398.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Michael Barattini and his wife Barbara King-Barattini of Warwick, Steven Barattini of Johnston; cherished grandchildren Matthew Van Loon and his wife Nicole, Lee Evan Skalski, Jamie Chatel; dear sisters-in-law Marian Barattini of California and Claire Barattini of Cranston.  He was the brother of the late Anthony and Augustine “Gus” Barattini.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Patricia, Anthony, Karen, Joseph and his beloved cat Bradford.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Monday 4 - 7 p.m.
