Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Cesare and Hilda Prando. For 20 years, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida alongside her husband of 59 years. Joan worked at Kinney Manufacturing for many years before acquiring Oak Embers Campground which she ran until 1988. During her semi-retirement years, she and her husband managed a summer resort in South Kingstown. Joan will be remembered for her love of family, a devoted Catholic and member of St. James Chapel in Charlestown, RI. Joan was the cherished grandmother of Charles “Chuck” Cummiskey III (wife Emily) of South Kingstown, RI, Christina Rousseau (husband Jake) of Cranston, RI and Chris D. Cummiskey (wife Kristen) of Richmond, RI.
Her greatest joy was her family, especially the presence of her great grandchildren, Grace, Nate, Max, Molly, Aiden, Ethan and Aaron known to them as their “GG.” She enjoyed watching their sports, attending gatherings and doing crafts with them.
She was the sister to Leddy Marino, Louise Bottella, Robert Prando (deceased), Barbara Perretta and Margaret Nicolella (deceased).
