Joan F. (Francis) Gallo

April 12, 1937 — July 4, 2024

Joan F. (Francis) Gallo

87, of Cranston, RI passed on July 4, 2024. She was the beloved wife of 55 years of Peter Gallo Jr. until his passing on December 10, 2014. Born April 12, 1937 to Andrew and Catherine (Bertrand) Francis. Joan attended St Mary’s School in Bristol and graduated valedictorian from Bristol High School in 1954 and was looking forward to attending her 70th class reunion on July 7. At the end of her senior year, Bob Tasca Sr. approached the school and wanted the smartest girl in the class to be his secretary at his dealership which was located in Bristol at the time. She was Bob Tasca’s secretary at Tasca Ford for several years before taking time off to raise her two children. She then worked as an executive secretary at Fleet Bank (now Bank of America) for nearly 25 years before her retirement. In their retirement years, she and Peter enjoyed traveling to places such as Germany, Italy, Hawaii, California, and the Canadian Rockies. They also enjoyed frequent overnight and two-night trips to North Conway, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Joan enjoyed cooking family dinners—everyone loved her gravy (meatballs) with cavatis, ravioli, and lasagna, reading, crocheting, and knitting. She was an exceptional, caring lady who cared deeply for her family. Everyone who knew her and met her loved her, and she will be greatly missed. She was a devout Catholic who attended mass regularly. When she could not attend daily mass, she watched mass on EWTN. She was a parishioner of St Ann’s Church in Cranston prior to it being sold. Most recently she was a parishioner of St Bartholomew’s Church in Providence. She is survived by her daughter, Donna with whom she lived, two grandsons, Matthew Gallo, and Christopher Gallo and his wife Vanessa, a granddaughter, Angelica Gallo, a great-granddaughter, Layla Gallo, a newborn great-grandson, Jameson Gallo, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Paul Gallo and brother Andrew Francis Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Providence at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
