85, of Apple House Drive, Cranston, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Malcom L. Daniels. Joan was born in Cranston, and she was a daughter of the late Everett and Margaret (Howard) Salisbury and she was a lifelong Cranston resident.
She was the devoted mother of Paula J. Daigneau of Warwick and Michael G. Dube, of Cranston, loving grandmother of Jennifer Grace and her husband Chris, Jaimie Kraska and her husband Phil and Nathan Dube and his wife Olivia. Joan was the loving great-grandmother (Gigi) of Hunter, Chloe, Noah, Hazel and the late Cole Grace. Joan was predeceased by her 8 brothers and sisters the late Flora Cooney, Anne Sanderson, Jeanette Moore, Betty Bouchard, Joseph, Earl, Harley, and Thomas Salisbury.
Joan was a proud graduate of Saint Xavier Academy and after graduating started her career at Leesona Corporation working in the administrative offices. When the company pulled out of RI Joan went to work as a hostess and then manager of Pasquale’s Italian Villiage which is where she met her beloved Malcolm. In support of Malcolm’s business ventures Joan was a key support person at The Cranston Mirror and The Armenian Nursing Home in Greenville. Along with Malcolm she also spent many years of service as a member of the Coast Guard Auxilary patrolling the shores of Narragansett Bay on The Plum Fun. In mid-life Joan made a career change to what she said was the best job that she ever had as a dispatcher for the Cranston Police Department. Joan, or Dube, as all of her law enforcement buddies knew her was a proud member of that department for 27 years and still stayed in contact with many of her CPD colleagues especially Retired Captain Bill Boroughs, our brother from another mother.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Cedar Crest Nursing Home for their kindness and and excellent care for Joan in her final years especially her favorite team of Gail, Amy, Ben, James and Frankie. We would also like to extend our Thanks to the HopeHealth Hospice team for their extraordinary and compassionate care during mom’s final days.
